Jex Lamoyne “JL” Hiatt peacefully passed away on March 15, 2022 due to complications of heart disease, kidney disease and diabetes.
Lamoyne was born December 27, 1957 in Payson, Utah. His family later moved to Salt Lake City. He attended East High School and graduated in the class of 1976. Lamoyne especially loved his auto shop class, and used that knowledge in his later business endeavors. He served a full-time mission in Sapporo, Japan.
After his mission, Lamoyne met Beverly Cluff on a blind date in the fall of 1979 and they were married the following June in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of three children and 11 grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Lamoyne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always happy to serve others in his ward and neighborhood. He loved the temple and found the sweetest moments being there with his family.
As a trucking business owner, Lamoyne took pride in being an entrepreneur. He made friends easily and enjoyed getting to know new people. He was excited to visit new places and enjoyed opportunities to drive across the US through his work and on family vacations.
One of Lamoyne’s greatest strengths was his positive attitude. His silly jokes, songs and nicknames lightened the mood and endeared him to others. Lamoyne’s humor and generous heart will be missed.
Lamoyne was preceded in death by his parents, Jex Leon Hiatt and Grace Hepworth, and his half-brother Clair Hiatt.
Lamoyne is survived by his wife Bev, sisters CarolAnn Hiatt Kussee Gudjenova and Bonnie Marston (Rick), daughters Audrey Ericksen (John) and Wendy Bunn (Ben), and his son Taylor Hiatt (Katie). 11 grandchildren: Hallie, Brielle, Madelyn, Bailey, Kinsley, Maren, Lincoln, Reid, Bowen, Brooks, and Dean.
The family wishes to thank Intermountain HealthCare Hospice for their care of Lamoyne in his final days.
