Jitske Kuin Landaal, of Salt Lake City passed away on June 2, 2018 of medical complications. Jitske was born on April 17, 1928 to Aaltje Koopal and Willem Kuin in Amsterdam, Holland where she grew up and met her husband and the father of her 5 children, Anthonius Johannas Landaal. The couple later divorced and Anthonius passed away in 2014. The family migrated to the United States on the Groote Bear through Ellis Island in 1954 and settled in Salt Lake City.
Jitske was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The family attended the LDS church in Poplar Grove Edison Ward until her later years. She is preceded in death by her youngest daughter Jitske who died in a tragic automobile accident in 1968 at age 9, her only son Anthonius Landaal Jr who passed away in 2014 at the age of 61 from complications of diabetes, and her infant great granddaughter Ashley who died of SIDS. Jitske is survived by her oldest daughter Marie (husband deceased) and her daughters Mindy and Kimberly and her 5 grandchildren; her daughter Alyda Tomlin (husband David) and their children Nikki, Brenda and Scott and their 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her daughter Jody (husband Doug) and their children Melissa, Alison, Angela, and Andrew and their 8 grandchildren and deceased son Tony’s child Timothy and one grandchild.
A private family service and burial will be held on June 6, 2018. Jitske will lie in peace in the Valley View Memorial Park alongside her daughter Jitske.
