JoAnn Andersen Ludwig peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on the morning of March 8, 2016 in SLC, UT due to complications surrounding liver failure at the age of 78.
She was born on May 29, 1937 to Henry E. and Genevieve H. Andersen in SLC, UT where she lived for most of her life.
She graduated from South High School in 1955 where she first met and dated her sweetheart Jay and following high school she attended the U of U. While attending the U she worked as a legal secretary and possessed exceptional shorthand skills that enabled her to work at USC where Jay attended physical therapy school.
She married the love of her life, B. Jay Ludwig, on June 9, 1958 in the Salt Lake temple performed by Elder Hugh B. Brown and for 57 years built a legacy of love and tradition that will last throughout eternity.
JoAnn was blessed with many talents but was most happy when she was serving those she loved. Whether that was preparing a meal for someone in need, or crocheting blankets and afghans for newborn babies.
Sunday dinners as a family and weekly lunch dates with her grandchildren were very important to her and created cherished memories for all. This tradition lives on in her children as they strive to follow her example to keep the family close.
She has always been very active and enjoyed many outings with her friends on early morning walks and playing golf at Oakridge Country Club where she was not only a club champion but scored a hole-in-one!
She had a unique and wonderful way of touching lives and influencing those around her. Her posterity has been and will continue to be blessed for years to come due to many selfless acts on her part.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life and served in many callings. She spent many years in both the primary and young women organizations and put her heart and soul into every lesson down to the smallest visual aid.
In her later years when her vision began to decline she would memorize her visiting teaching lessons or stories she told to the children in nursery.
She is survived by her dear husband Jay and children Tammy (Steve) Kasteler, Teresa (Doug) Folsom, Keith (Vickie) Ludwig and Robyn (Jason) Torbensen, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry E. & Genevieve H. Andersen.
