Joanne Wood

Marjorie Joanne Beebe Wood passed away on October 21, 2022, in the watchful care of the County Care Assisted Living staff, at the age of 88. 
Joanne was born on July 30th, 1934, to Rose Anna Barnson and Carl G. Beebe, in Circleville Utah. She had 4 older siblings – Helen, Jessie, Colleen, and Ron. Joanne was a spirited young girl and had many friends. As a teenager, she was a part of the cheerleading squad and graduated Valedictorian from Piute High School. 
On May 29th, 1953, Joanne married Russell Carl Wood in the Manti Temple. Russell served in the US Airforce and Joanne cared for their two daughters Wendy and Christy. After only 8 years of marriage, Joanne became a widow when Russell died during a training exercise. 
Joanne showed great personal strength during this trial and worked hard to care for her young girls. She moved to a home in Bountiful Utah next door to her sister Helen. Helen was a great support to Joanne, as she went back to school to earn her beauticians license, to provide for her family.
On February 5, 1965, Joanne married Edward Layne Wood. Ted and Joanne added two children, Nicole, and Lance to their growing family. Joanne was very involved in her children’s activities and served many callings in her ward. She enjoyed working as a receptionist for the beauty shop at the Z.C.M.I. shopping center. Ted and Joanne also served a mission at the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.  They cherished 46 years together until Ted passed away April 1, 2011. 
Joanne spent the last 8 years of her life at Country Care Assisted Living and was a friend to the residents and staff there. 
Joanne is survived by her children: Wendy Stanger, Christy Pearce, Nicole Green, Lance Wood; and her sibling, Anna Colleen Allen. Joanne was preceded in death by her siblings: Helen Davis, Jessie Bailey and Ronald Beebe.  She will be forever loved and missed by her 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Joanne Wood will have memorial services on Saturday, October 29th, 2022, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main St., Bountiful, UT., where the viewing will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 10 a.m. Interment – Bountiful City Cemetery.
