We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Joel passed away on January 22, 2025 from a long struggle with Congestive Heart Failure.
Joel was born August 15, 1954 to Blanche and Clifford Sadler of Bountiful, Utah. He graduated from Bountiful High, class of 1972.
Joel served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Albuquerque New Mexico Mission.
Joel married his sweetheart Jeanette Davis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 24,1978. Joel and Jeanette have four children: Bryan, Criscell, Dallas, and Elicia, and eight grandchildren. His family brought him eternal joy.
While starting their family, he attended the University of Utah graduating with a degree in Accounting. As a CPA, he specialized in Auditing, Business Accounting, as well as Nonprofit Organizations. As Accountants know, he has spent way too many hours late into the night preparing taxes. He was currently working as the Controller for Bingham Engineering.
Family and friends knew Joel as a kind and well-mannered gentleman. It has been said he has a “bartender personality” willing to listen intently to everyone’s stories, heart’s desires, and troubles. Joel emits a comforting spirit for anyone around him. He is always concerned for your well-being and never wanted for himself. His first priority is always making sure he is providing for his family’s needs. His clothes are very few (his closet is mostly empty) and does not mind driving worn out hand me down cars. Always pointing out “it gets me where I need to go”.
After Joel’s mission he found an interest in Architecture. He spent time in construction, and brags about that church he worked on “over on that street, down on that corner, ya know”. He gained enough knowledge and confidence to take on building his own home.
Joel learned so many things from science to history from reading everything in sight. He always knew how to fix just about anything. He would spout out info and facts about everything in a conversation. When someone would refer to him as a “Jack of all trades” he would quickly add “and a master of none”.
Joel absolutely loves jalapenos. He puts them on anything and everything. In the spring he always loves to start garden seeds and watch for them to sprout. He would hope his tomato plants would have a good year. “A man is not a man unless he can grow a good tomato.” Joel finally succeeded in growing an olive tree after many tries. It was getting bigger and bigger each year until it froze to death.
God made memory to keep happy thoughts alive through time and space. You never leave home or your loved ones, for you always take part of them with you and leave loving lasting memories for those left behind. We know we will see each other again!
Joel’s loved ones include his wife, Jeanette; Bryan (Jennifer) Sadler; Criscell (Spencer) Paskett; Dallas (fiancé Macey Domingo) Sadler; Elicia (Josh) Broderick; and 8 grandchildren: Laith and Vivienne Sadler, Alex, Eliza, Max, and Brexton Paskett, and Jett and Layla Broderick.
