Johannes B. Bierwolf 1919 – 2009

Our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday November 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 17, 1919 in Elbing, Westpreussen, Germany to Karl Gustav and Helene M. Bierwolf. Married Gertraud Herrmann November 11, 1943 in Merseburg, Germany. Their marriage was solemnized in the Swiss Temple on May 24, 1957. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including a mission to Germany, Branch President and Ward organist. His passion was genealogy and spent a lifetime doing family research. He loved music, playing the organ, piano and other instruments. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would remember each birthday and special event of every family member. We love you Dad. John is survived by his children; Helga Rolf Bremer, Ingeborg Hans Schmidt, Esther Cano, Nephi Paulette Bierwolf, Gudrun Steve Owen and Angela Craig Byers, 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his wife and sweetheart Gertraud. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November, 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Olympus 5th Ward, 3510 South 3640 East, Holladay. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church prior to the services.
