John Braegger

Biography

John Brent Braegger, 68, passed away on July 30, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in April 1946 to James E. and Betty Day Braegger in Brigham City, Utah. He was raised in the small town of Willard, Utah where he enjoyed his youth.

He married Marie Burbank and had two children; Lorie Lynne Corbet and John James Braegger (deceased.) On August 15, 1990 he married Bonnie Sowby Braegger who had two children; Connie Brothersen Esplin and Jeff Wayne Brothersen. They later solemnized their marriage in the Bountiful L.D.S. Temple on June 21, 1995.

Brent attended Box Elder High School in Brigham City, the Utah Police Academy in Salt Lake City, and Weber State College in Ogden, Utah.

He worked at Parson Ready Mix in Ogden, he was the Chief of Police in Willard, and worked with the Utah Highway Patrol where he was a Trooper on the road, he also worked Investigations, the Gang Unit and Narcotics. After twenty-six years in law enforcement he retired as a Sergeant from DPS/UHP.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In his free time, Brent enjoyed camping with friends and family. He rode all sorts of recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles, ATVs, his Razor, motorcycles, race cars, and sandrails. He made friends with whomever he came in contact.

Brent is preceded in death by his parents James E. and Betty Day Braegger and his son, John James Braegger. He is survived by two siblings: Larry James (Lana) Braegger, and Peggy (Steve) Monsen. He is also survived by his three children: Lorie Lynn Corbet, Connie Brothersen (Doug) Esplin and Jeff Wayne (Aimee) Brothersen. He also has nine grandchildren: Trisha Marie and John Riley Corbet, Michael, Mikayla, Matthew, Luke and Lilly Esplin, Kaci Brothersen, and Conner (son of John Braegger.)

A viewing will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main in Bountiful, Utah on Monday, August 4rd, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the West Bountiful First Ward, 311 North 800 West, West Bountiful, Utah on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., where friends may call from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment – Bountiful City Memorial Park, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
