Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and uncle, John (Jack) F. Lalor, 89, passed away December 8th after a long battle with cancer. Jack left this world and was received into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born October 12, 1921 in Laramie, WY. to Francis J and Dorothy M Lalor. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1942 during WWII. He served in Seattle, Portland, New York and mostly in Alaska. He married Lois E Martin on April 12, 1947 in Spokane, WA. Soon after, Jack went to work for Kraft Foods. Later joined Powers Candy Co., Spokane, WA. as a sales manager. In 1960 he relocated his family to Bountiful, UT to become a confectionery broker for a Seattle company. In 1969 he started his own brokerage and later turned the brokerage over to his two sons, Bill and Dan, before he retired in 1985. During his career Jack was recognized for his outstanding service that he gave the confectionery industry. He was awarded as a National Candy Ambassador by the NCA in 1980 and was inducted into the Hershey Hall of Fame, Hershey, PA in 1996. He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. Both Jack and Lois loved playing bridge with their many friends. He enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends and associates. Both of them enjoyed the opportunity to travel. They especially enjoyed the trips they made to Ireland and to Rome. They enjoyed the few years they were snowbirds in AZ with their new found friends. After the passing of Lois, Jack looked forward to the gatherings with family and close friends. We will miss his smile. He leaves behind a wonderful example of charity, service and a legacy of love to his posterity. Jack has left us to join his wife, Lois; mother, father and his brother, Bill. Jack is survived by four sons, John (Luz) of Fairfield, CA.; Thomas, William, and Daniel (Jane); and his daughter, Anne Marie of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Myrna (Bob) Knudson. Jacks family would like to send a special thank you to the staff on the 9th floor at IMC and Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Olafs Catholic Church, 1793 South Orchard Dr., Bountiful. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, which will include a prayer vigil at 7:45 p.m. Interment-Mt Calvary Cemetery.
