John Beesley (Jack) Palmer passed away on August 26, 2022. Jack was born in Murray on March 28, 1936, with the code of the west imprinted in his heart. That is to: live each day with courage, take pride in your work, always finish what you start, do what has to be done, be tough but fair, when you make a promise keep it, ride for the brand and talk less say more.
Jack weathered all hardships and health issues due to an industrial accident at age 30 but found that cowboy boots could substitute for leg braces and suited his new bow-legged stance. He never knew when he was whipped so he never was. He treated others with absolute integrity and honor in every aspect of his life. Jack spent his life looking for ways to help others. His parents were William Lars and May Louise Beesley Palmer. He was the second of 3 boys and graduated from West High School. Jack was born with grease in his veins. As a small boy, droves of neighborhood kids brought their bicycles for his expert repairs. Those skills led to the beginning of his lifelong career and passion as an auto mechanic which formally began with his first job at age 12.
After graduating from West High School Jack married Carol Nelson on August 31, 1956. They spent 66 years together. Jack’s family enjoyed spending time together at their cabin in Midway where there was always a project to be done. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many capacities. His favorite calling being explorer leader.
Jack is survived by his wife Carol, his brother Larry and 6 children: Brynn Kohlwey (Randy) – Lehi, UT, Kristi Weight (Gary) - Daniel, UT, John Palmer – Parker, CO, Kimball Palmer - Salt Lake City, UT, Steven Palmer (Sally) – Highlands Ranch, CO, Jenny Wayman (Lynn) – Glenwood, UT. 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
