John Reed Poulton, 91, returned to his Heavenly Father on March 8, 2012. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and eternal companion of 66 years. He was an all-American boy, born on the 4th of July, 1920. He grew up in the Yale Ward, attended East High School, where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball and track. He attended the University of Utah where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi and business manager of the Utonian. He earned a Masters Degree in Marketing from New York University. He served for 2 ½ years in the Spanish-American Mission. He married Nancy Jane Richards in the Salt Lake Temple in 1945. He was a very successful life insurance salesman with Equitable Life Insurance Company where he was named to their Hall of Fame and was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church; serving as Bishop, Stake President, Regional Representative, Mission President (New Mexico Albuquerque 1977-1980) and temple sealer for nineteen years. He also served 2 additional missions with his sweetheart to Israel and the Dominican Republic. He was known and will forever be remembered for his honesty, integrity and graciousness in all aspects of his life. He is survived by his wife, 5 children; Rick Poulton (Carla), Marianne Tower (Mike), Janet Spilker (Clark), Don Poulton (Amy), Kathy Morgan (Bret), sister, Marilyn Smith, 22 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Donald Glenn Poulton and Annie Mary Vetterli, and brother, Donald.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Foothill 7th Ward, 2215 East Roosevelt Ave., Salt Lake City. Friends may call on Wednesday at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the ward prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
