J.R. Trease 1957 2011

Bountiful – J.R. (John Reuben) Trease, son, husband, father, brother, and Papa, left this Earth at 7:32 p.m., May 25, 2011 at the University of Utah Hospital. Much to the dismay of all those who love him, he left this Earth as he entered it in a hurry to get where he needed to go and much too early. J.R. was born April 5, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent his early childhood in Salt Lake City; Provo; Lakewood, Colorado; Brigham City; and, Bountiful since 1970. J.R. is survived by his loving wife Lyn, parents Kent and Donna Trease, two daughters, Janica and Jacalyn Trease; siblings, Jami Zigich; Jory and Nisi Trease; and, Jace and Joy Trease; his adorable grandaughter Laila (4 months); his special buddy, Isaac, 7 other nieces and nephews and 4 great nephews and nieces, mother-in-law Shirley Beattie and brother-in-law David Beattie. J.R. was adored by all children and never met a child he didnt love. His greatest love evolved around his own two girls, Isaac and now Laila whom he announced to the world of her brilliance, beauty and love for her Papa. J.R. was an avid sportsman. He began football at age seven and played anything and everything from that age on. His greatest sport was track where he ran the mile for Bountiful High where he graduated in 1975 and for B.Y.U. J.R. was a professional referee for Basketball for 25 years. It was perfect for his dynamic personality. J.R. was never a calm person and anyone around him had to keep on their toes to keep up with his antics. He was determined and a high achiever, earning the rank of Eagle Scout as the first one in the 40th Ward. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in the Chicago-Illinois Mission from 1976-1978. J.R. was a very active member of the LDS church having served in many positions including the Bishopric of the Bountiful East Stake 30th Ward. Currently he was the Sunbeam teacher with his wife, Lyn. Being the oldest child and big brother to his siblings, he was a great example. He would always try to do anything he could to help others. If he didnt know how to achieve something, he would find a way. He loved his family, church, and country. J.R. was a fantastic teacher and speaker. He will be missed greatly. B.Y.U. was just perfect in the eyes of J.R., but some of his family now think he has seen the light and will realize that Red is better. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful 26th LDS Ward Chapel on 200 North 200 West, Bountiful, Utah. Viewing on Thursday evening, June 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful; and, Friday morning from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
