John Bernett Williams, age 87, passed away on September 8, 2004 at Lakeview Hospital, Bountiful, following a short illness. John was born July 23, 1917 in Beaver, Utah to Raymond and Leona Hodges Williams. Member of the LDS Church. John married Julia Faye Jensen September 7, 1937 in Beaver. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1979 after working 37 years as a brakesman-conductor. John was a man of many talents and abilities. He excelled at track and field for Beaver High School where he held the state record in the high hurdles. He had a beautiful baritone solo voice which he often used to comfort and entertain. He was a master fly fisherman, and an expert at crossword puzzles. His greatest joy, however, was his family. He reveled in their scholastic, athletic and professional achievements, and looked forward to and enjoyed family gatherings. John is survived by his wife of 67 years; son, J. Clare Phyllis; grandchildren, Christine Goodwin, Scott Elizabeth, Jon Kelly, and Susan; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam and Betty, two infant sons and by a great-grandson, Cody. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. View Cemetery in Beaver. Family and friends may visit Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main.
