Josefina Jimenez Alvarado de Avila

July 3, 1921 — May 21, 2017

Josefina Jimenez Alvarado de Avila (95) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 21, 2017.  Josefina was born July 3, 1921 in Labranzagrande, Colombia, the daughter of Virgilio Jimenez and Elvira Alvarado de Jimenez.
As a young girl, she lived among nature and animals and had a love for horses.  As a teenager, she moved to Sogamoso, Colombia, where she met the love of her life Luis Asdrubal Avila.  They were married on November 20th, 1948. They were later sealed for time and all eternity at the Washington D.C. Temple.
She had a smile that lit up the room and was always willing to give anyone a hug.  She was an amazing cook and wanted to make sure everyone was fed– at times overfed.  She possessed many talents including being an amazing seamstress, even creating her own patterns, and a gardener.
She is now reunited with her husband, daughter (Gloria Avila de Jensen), parents and siblings.  She is survived by her daughter (Gladys Avila), 8 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
After a private family gathering, there will be a gravesite funeral on Friday, May 26, at 10:00 AM at the Farmington City Cemetery located at 500 South 200 East Farmington, UT  84025 (in the South East corner).
