Joseph Leo Barnes, 89, of Bountiful, passed away on October 24 after a long battle with cancer.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Valentine Barnes Sr. and Jean Leone Earl and his sister Bonnie Jean Barnes and his brother Lawrence Valentine Barnes.
Joe is survived by his wife Jeneale Casaday, his son from his first wife ( Doris "Faye" O'Dell Barnes) Joseph Leo Barnes Jr.(Joy), and his son from his current wife David Michael Carlson (Toni), and his six grandchildren Kelsey (Devin), Dakota (Madalin), Cade, Jacob, Joshua, Jaycee and his great granddaughter Nellie Stratton.
Joe grew up in Salt lake City and attended West High School. As a career, he worked as an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force base for 35 years. His work as an airplane mechanic took him all over the world. He was a gifted mechanic and never settled for anything less than the highest quality and perfection in his work. Joe loved to serve his family, friends, and neighbors. Each winter at his Bountiful home you could catch him blowing snow for himself and his neighbors whenever the snow fell. He loved to make his award winning fudge and cookies at Christmastime and to personally deliver his delicious treats to all his friends and neighbors. He had a soft heart for his many dogs. He had amazing penmanship and later in life taught himself calligraphy. Joe treated all people with genuine kindness and seemed to make friends with everyone he came in contact with. His wife and family will miss him dearly.
