Joseph H. Steenblik, 88, was born in 1926 as the oldest child to Roelof and Dina Steenblik in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away in the arms of his beloved wife in Bountiful, Utah, July 27, 2015. During World War II Joe served in the United States Navy and was later called to labor in the Netherlands as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Years later, with his young family, he served a second mission to the Netherlands where he built churches throughout Europe. He married the love of his life, Georgine Phelps, in the Salt Lake Temple, June 1, 1950. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Civil Engineering. As empty nesters, Joe and Georgine served two missions in Nauvoo, Illinois. He held many positions within the LDS Church, including bishop. He was an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple and found joy in family history, researching over 100,000 family names. One of Joe's greatest attributes was his selfless service to others. His greatest joy was his family. He was proud of his heritage and often joked, "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much!" His parents, his sister, Gloria, and grandson, Thomas Hepworth, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Georgine; his children, J Randal (Kathy), P Kent (Susan), Shauna Jackson (Logan), Shellie Hepworth (Ken), Janna Bagley (Jason); 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
