Joseph Lynn Ford

May 4, 1946 — April 5, 2025

Joseph Lynn Ford passed away on Saturday April 5th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Salt Lake City on May 4th, 1946 to Dale Walker Ford and Norma Elsie Lott. He was the fourth child and the baby of the family. Joe grew up on a farm in Centerville, Utah where he learned the value of hard work alongside his father. He cherished animals and always had a special bond with his dogs. Joe met the love of his life, Kathy Clark, at Bountiful High school 61 years ago. They sealed their love on February 1, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple after he served a Spanish-American mission. Later, Joe resumed his studies at Weber State College.

An entrepreneur at heart, Joe and Kathy owned and operated Colony Press, The Copy Center and most recently Event Masters where they did over 4,000 weddings. Joe had a magnetic personality combined with a tender heart that drew many to him, fostering deep business relationships. Together they employed numerous people in the community and were widely known for their work ethic and passion. - a legacy that endures through the foundation they built and the positive example they set.

Joe cherished his fast cars and frequently had another one in the driveway. He loved his time on his boat at Pineview and trips to Lake Powell. He took great pride in a beautiful yard with a perfectly manicured lawn. He loved to travel by car so he could relish the landscape and take in the beautiful countryside even though Kathy retired from the airlines with flight benefits he would prefer the slower scenic journey.

He loved to be around his family and always made an effort to be at every game, recital or event. You knew he was your biggest fan and always had simple words that you knew he could never be disappointed in you. Joe was the first to forgive and the last to get angry. He was passionate about his health and would rarely miss a day at the gym. He loved music and had a great desire to learn piano again. You would often hear the playing of piano music from his phone coming from his pocket while working out. He had a deep relationship with God, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and loved to serve as a temple worker in the Layton temple.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife Kathy Ford, his Children Lisa (Keith) Van Dyke, Brett (Allyson) Ford, Mike (Sara) Ford, Angela (Cort) Beckman, and Kami (Scott) Black, and his siblings Renae (Tee) Migliori, Janice (Ralph) Kinyon, and Alan Ford. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Clark Ford whom he missed dearly every day since his passing 24 years ago.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at University of Utah hospital and St Marks for their compassionate care. He would light up the room with his subtle jokes and gentle smile that endeared them to him. He fought every day to recover from his first stroke last July. Thank you for loving on our father.
