Joseph Mason Kirton Jr., 87, died November 20th, 2015.
Joseph was born May 26th, 1928, in Salt Lake City Utah, to Audrey Rynhart and Joseph Mason Kirton Sr.
Joe (Jo-Jo) lived in Draper Utah, from the time he was four years old. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. Joe was an avid Scouter, and was involved heavily as his sons grew and progressed to Eagle Scouts. He attended Wood-Badge and participated in any possible Scouting activity. Joe and his wife Dorothy served an LDS Mission together as they traveled North America, Micro-Filming census records for the Family History Library. Most recently, Joe & Dorothy served as Ordinance Workers in the Bountiful LDS Temple.
Joe loved to tinker and build all sorts of things in his spare time. Joe was good with his hands and his mind. He always insisted that when something broke around the house, he could build a replacement that was better than the original.
He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, his two sons Joseph (Shelly) of St. George UT, David (Angee) of Salt Lake City UT, his daughter MaryAnn of Fresno CA. His brother Richard (LaVon) Kirton of Draper UT, sisters Audrey Nielson of Holiday UT, and Peggy Evans of Draper UT. Along with so many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his Parents and his brother John.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 28th, 2015 at the Val-Verda LDS 5th Ward Chapel 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful Utah. A viewing will be held Friday the 27th from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main, Bountiful Utah. A short viewing prior to the funeral services will be from 10-10:45 am at the Val-Verda Chapel. Interment will be at the Lehi Cemetery located at 1100 North 400 East, Lehi UT.
