Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away May 13, 2008 at Lakeview Hospital. He was born May 24, 1913 to Joseph Peter Patterson and Elva Thornock Patterson in Bloomington, Idaho. He graduated from Fielding High School and attended Weber College, taking all the business courses they offered at that time. He married Jennie Lorena Dewey in the Logan LDS Temple and after her passing he later married Faun Oman, who also has passed away. Joe was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings, including several bishoprics and several High Council. He also served as a Temple Worker. He worked in managerial positions for Western Equipment in Boise, Idaho, Flaherty Manufacturing in Pocatello, Idaho and also worked as the Director of the National School of Heavy Equipment in Weiser, Idaho. In 1969, Joe went to work as an administrator in the Operations and Maintenance Department for the LDS Church. He worked closely with the Presiding Bishopric serving on the Users Board. He also worked with the US Department of Interior, putting together a claim for the damage caused by the collapse of the Teton Dam. Joe worked with people in Europe and South America and was able to travel to both of those areas. He was instrumental in the preservation and restoration of many historically significant church structures, including the White Pine Chapel. He is survived by two children Jenifer Wally Scott and Vicki Dennis Williams, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two sisters Virtue and Yvonne, and lots of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. At Joe’s request there will be no viewing or funeral. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Bloomington Idaho Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Boulton Elementary Functional Skills Class, 2611 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful, Utah 84010 or any Autism Organization.
