Joseph Clark Robinson, 81, returned home on Thursday, July 27, 2023. His family, whom he dearly loves, were by his side. He was 81. Clark was born to Lamond William Robinson and Jessie Jannetta Knowlton Robinson on March 7, 1942. He was born and raised in Farmington, Utah.
Clark graduated from Davis High School and the University of Utah where he earned his Master of Business Administration. After graduation he was employed as the comptroller and later as the general manager of Lagoon. He also served on the board of directors of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions and then relocated to Washington, D.C. to serve as the president of the association.
Clark excelled at athletics. In high school he played football, basketball, and track. In college he played football for the University of Utah. He enjoyed playing golf his entire adult life and continued to play with his son, Brad, and grandsons until weeks before his death. After college he picked up tennis. He was the winner of six National USTA Senior Tennis Championships, a finalist in nine National USTA Senior Championships, a member of three USTA Invitational Teams (top five players in age division in the United States), received a #1 ranking in the world in his age group and advanced to the US Open in all divisions (husband-wife, father-son and father-daughter) of the National Equitable Family Tennis Challenge. In 2022 he was inducted into the Utah Tennis Hall of Fame.
Clark was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked in the temple for over thirty-five years, including as a sealer in the Bountiful Temple. He also served as a Bishop, member of the Stake Presidency and Mission President in Perth, Australia.
Clark and his beautiful wife, DeeAnn Carling, met while they were attending the University of Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake City temple on March 13, 1964. They raised four children whom they loved dearly.
Clark is survived by his wife, DeeAnn, their four children, Eric (Jill Welling), Brad (Trisha Farnes), Anissa (Brent Turley) and Mara (Jason Hughes), his brother David (Leslie Bell) and many dear friends. They have thirty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two of his brothers, Rick (Gwen Larkins), Stephen (Marion Adams), and his sister JoAnn (Robert Freed and Kumar Chavré).
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, 965 East Oakwood Drive, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, Utah, and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment at Farmington City Cemetery.
