Joseph Taylor Neville, 91, returned to his heavenly home on November 19, 2018 after a short illness. He was devoted to his family and had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ.
Joseph was born April 12, 1927 in Salt Lake City to Joseph William Jr. and Julia Taylor Neville. He often talked of his childhood playing in the mountains in Escalante, Utah where he gained his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He later moved to Odgen, Utah where he graduated from Weber High School. Joseph joined the Army Reserves during World War II, however, before he was sent overseas, the war ended and he finished his service in Alaska. Joseph spoke often of how homesick he was in the army, but was determined to do his duty. After the army, he attended school for a time before he risked homesickness again to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas Louisiana. During his mission he studied and learned much about the scriptures which increased his devotion to God. After serving faithfully without experiencing any homesickness, he returned home and enrolled in the University of Utah and later earned a Masters degree in Accounting.
He fell in love with Martha “Evelyn” Morgan while attending the university and they were married in 1951. They had 4 children, Joseph, Valerie, Jared and David. In 1985, Evelyn and Joe served a LDS mission to Manchester England where they were able to share the Gospel making a difference in the lives of many people. After many years of faithful temple and church service, Evelyn passed away in 2012.
Over the years Joseph lived and worked in Ogden, Washington DC, Salt Lake City, and Bountiful, Utah. His final years have been filled with familial love and joy in the home with his son David and David’s wife Leslie, and their children in Bakersfield, California. Joseph always had a ready smile and a wink to show that he noticed you. He will be dearly missed.
Joseph is survived by his 4 children: Joseph (Mary Jane) Neville, Valerie (Dennis) Garrett, Jared Neville, David (Leslie) Neville, and 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Family and Friends are invited to a viewing at 9 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main St., Bountiful, Utah on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. at the same location.
Joseph will be buried at the Bountiful Cemetery following the services next to his beloved Evelyn.
