Joseph Kimball Vashaw, age 43, from Farmington, Utah passed away in a motor vehicle accident on July 29, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Samantha dos Santos, and 7 children Kaylen Clark, and Saige, Ellie, Joshua, Easton, Sienna, and Ayla Vashaw.
Joe found his greatest joy in other people’s happiness. His wife described him as noble, kind, and giving. He was always serving others, and always needed to make sure that everyone else was okay before he thought about himself. He was always finding ways to connect with his family. He channeled his boundless energy into attending concerts, lacrosse, mountain biking, volleyball, and music practices with his family. He loved organizing hikes, outrageous lip sync contests, board game nights, and vacations for friends and family far and wide. He was an excellent friend, sounding board, and mentor to his children and applied a beautiful cocktail of love, listening, advice, and humor in his interactions with them. At work his pride in his family glowed as he shared their successes, stories, and photos.
He is best known for his gregariousness and ability to make lasting friendships wherever he went. Joe never met a stranger and has a gift for making people laugh. On any given topic he could quickly find a joke, movie quote, or ridiculous story to pair it with. No matter how tense the meeting, how strenuous the job, or how high the stakes, he always found a way to put people at ease with his endless wit and warmth. Even in the dark moments that life inevitably brings us all, he found a way to coax hope’s laughter out of hidden springs.
Behind his quick wit was a genuine love of people. Several of his friends and family members related how his mentorship helped them achieve success. He extended his trust in their ability to perform jobs that pushed their limits and lifted their capability for future performance. Joe was introduced to the construction industry working alongside his uncle and life-long best friend in Virginia during summers in high school, and he took to the discipline right away. He was extremely intelligent and had an incredible work ethic and a unique ability to bring his coworkers together.
Joe utilized his seemingly endless energy to lift everyone around him.
Blessed are the peacemakers. Blessed are we who have known you brother. Until we meet again!
