Our dear son, brother, and uncle, Joshua Duncan Abercrombie, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2021, at our home in Bountiful, Utah at the young age of 30 years old.
Josh was born in Bountiful, Utah on April 9, 1991, to Lori and Hal Abercrombie as their firstborn son. As he grew up, he was an energetic and inquisitive child, finding adventure everywhere he went, always willing to try new experiences and challenges. He enjoyed the outdoors and earned his Eagle Scout rank as a young teenager. During his Junior High and High School years he found an interest in the medical field. He also joined the Wrestling team and Lacrosse team which he loved. Upon graduation from Woods Cross High School in 2009 he spent one year in college before volunteering to serve the Lord on a two-year, full-time mission to Santa Rosa California preaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and serving others diligently.
After returning from his mission, he explored the nursing field for a time and went to Ghana on a Humanitarian mission to help the sweet African people with medical care. His desire to serve and help others eventually led him to the emergency medical field where he earned a Paramedic certificate from Weber State University in 2018. Since that time, he worked in various places including Gold Cross Ambulance Service, South Davis Community Hospital and Grifols plasma donation center. In his spare time, he also volunteered at Plain City Fire Station who, on the day before his passing, had just hired him where he would have been working a second job. He loved everything about the human body and how it works and was always anxious to learn more.
Joshua’s interests away from work were endless. He was always listening to a podcast to learn about something new. He enjoyed rock climbing, ran a marathon, studying the stars and planets through his telescope, and playing board games with his family. Josh was a true and honest friend who loved with a pure unselfish heart, always willing to help someone in need.
Joshua is survived by his loving parents Hal L. and Lori Sue Dryer Abercrombie; cherished siblings Braden Hal Abercrombie (Olivia), Kelsie Hope Scott (Nate), Chandler Kyle Abercrombie (Marie), and Anna Brooke Abercrombie; grandparents Lois Abercrombie and George and Sue Dryer; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He also leaves behind his niece Wren Karina Abercrombie (4); nephew Rowan Khalil Scott (3); niece Kit Elyse Abercrombie (2); and niece Lucy Hope Scott (8 months), all of whom he deeply adored.
Family and friends are invited to honor Joshua at a viewing held on Sunday, October 24th from 6 to 8 pm at the Monarch meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 165 Monarch Drive in Bountiful. Another viewing will be held on Monday, October 25th from 9:45 to 10:45 am after which his funeral will commence at 11:00 am at the same location. He will then be buried at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.
The funeral service will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page.
All who knew Josh will miss the twinkle in his eye, gentle heart, and his warm, infectious laugh.
