Josie Maurice Clay

Maurice was born in Milo, Idaho (now part of Idaho Falls) on December 23, 1914 to Joseph Charles Jordan and Thirza Maria Nowlin and passed away December 30, 2013 – one week after celebrating her 99th birthday.

She graduated from Idaho Falls High, went to collage two years in Pocatello and then to Utah State where she met her sweetheart, Evan Phillips Clay. They married during their senior year, later being sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Evan passed away in 1973. Her church and family were everything that was important to her.

Maurice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Elizabeth (Libby), brother Lloyd and twin brother Morris. She leaves behind her four children: J. Garth (Letha); E. Leon (Marcie); Julie M. Pollock; and, Janis C. Quigley (Collin). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren with 4 more on the way.

Her family is very grateful to the staff of CNS for their help taking care of her in her own home until her death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 (her 76th wedding anniversary) at 1:00 PM at the Lincoln Ward, 590 W. Antelope Drive, Layton, UT. Viewing will be held at the church from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
