Joyce K. Lewis Reed

1928-2017

Bountiful, UT- Joyce was born on December 31, 1928 to Foss Lewis and Irene Denning and was reunited with her sweetheart, Roy, November 27, 2017.

Joyce grew up the second of eight children in Bountiful, surrounded by her loving parents and siblings.  There was always a good time to be had riding horses, hunting, and wearing cowboy boots.   She was so proud of her heritage and the wonderful family she came from.   Joyce learned from her family what it meant to be kind and generous, and that kindness and generosity followed her throughout her life and onto her posterity.

Joyce spent her school days actively involved in many activities, including Pro-Schola at Davis High and was honored to be crowned Cantaloupe Queen for the 1945 Bountiful Cantaloupe Day celebration.  Joyce attended Stoker Elementary, South Davis Junior High, and Davis High School, where she met her sweetheart, Roy.

Roy and Joyce married right out of high school and both worked for her family’s business, Foss Lewis and Sons Construction. They were blessed with their son, Delroy, six years later.

Joyce was a long time member of the North Canyon 5th ward fulfilling many callings, including serving as librarian with Roy for over ten years.

Joyce had many talents and continued to learn throughout her life.  She enjoyed crocheting (her family lovingly called her a machine), making porcelain dolls, oil painting, bowling, and cosmetology.  All of these were done with her family by her side.  They were always a team.  She created and donated hundreds of crocheted blankets over the years. If anyone was in need of an afghan, she would willingly supply them with one.

Joyce is survived by the loves of her life, her son , Delroy (Kaylinne) Reed her three grandchildren, Kody (Heather) Reed, Kasey Reed, and Kalli (Shawn) Mangum and her six great grandchildren Brighton and Bowen Reed, Austyn Reed,  Porter, Olivia, and Foss Mangum.  Also survived by sisters Linda (Buck) Frampton, Karen Carlson, Lela (Clint) Belnap and sisters-in-law Sue Lewis and Linda Lewis.
