Joyce Babcock Robinson, age 89, passed away January 11, 2021, after a short battle with the COVID 19 virus.
Joyce was born July 19, 1931, in Pocatello, Idaho to Rufus Stanford and Nevilla Clair (Rampton) Babcock. She graduated from Pocatello Highschool in 1949 and was awarded a BS degree from Brigham Young University, Provo Utah in 1953. Joyce married Gerald Keith Robinson Jr. on Sept 8, 1953 (later divorced). They had three children: Stana Robinson, Stacy (Kellie) Robinson-Queen, and Jeff (Paula) Robinson. Joyce was truly a social justice warrior as evidenced by her many years working for the Utah Department of Corrections as a Probation officer while serving on the Governor’s Task Force on Woman and Substance Abuse and Odyssey House of Utah’s Advisory Board. She later earned a Certificate from University of Utah (1984) to obtain her board licensure as a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor. When Joyce retired from the State of Utah in 1995, she continued working for many more years for Davis Behavioral Health in Clearfield, Utah, and Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. She loved to travel, visiting various parts of Europe, South Africa, Spain, China and was able to live in Japan for several years while her husband serviced in the United States Navy. Everyone that knew Joyce can attest to her quick wit, a wicked sense of humor, kind heart, and ability to make even strangers feel like family. Although she loved her children fiercely, her grandchildren were her lifeforce. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends that she called family. A visitation will be held in her honor at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful UT 84010, Saturday, January 16, 2021, 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM with graveside services to follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
