Joyce Ann Holley Welch was reunited with her loving husband and son on January 10, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on December 19, 1939 to George Victor Holley and Myrla Wilkinson Holley. Joyce was the fourth of five children and spent her childhood in Ogden before moving to North Ogden where she attended junior high and high school. She graduated in 1957 from Weber High School and went on to study at Weber State College.
In September of 1958 Joyce accepted a blind date with her future husband, Thomas Albert Welch of Morgan, Utah. Two months later they were engaged. They married on April 30, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple and were blessed with five children.
After briefly living in North Ogden, Utah and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they settled in Roy, Utah where they raised their family and lived for 25 years. In 1989, they moved to their home in Layton, Utah where they resided until the end of 2015. Since that time Joyce has been a resident of the assisted living and memory care facilities at Fairfield Village in Layton and Whisper Cove in Kaysville.
Joyce enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She loved hosting family gatherings and planning and hosting parties for friends and neighbors. For many years Joyce looked forward to attending birthday club luncheons with her friends from Roy and Layton. She considered her friendships one of her greatest blessings. Joyce also loved vacationing. She especially enjoyed visiting the Hawaiian islands and accompanying her husband on annual trips to Washington D.C., which she did for nearly twenty years.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joyce was blessed to serve in many callings in the wards and stakes where she resided.
Joyce is survived by her children Holly Punjabi, Bountiful, Utah, Carrie (Chad) Olson, Highland, Utah, Thomas (Holly) Welch, Kaysville, Utah and Christie Adams, Fruit Heights, Utah,13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters LaRita (Dale) Chugg, Farr West, Utah and Nancy (Ron) Jolley, Orem, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert Steven Welch and brothers Glen V. Holley and Merle L. Holley.
Funeral services will be held on January 25th at 11:00 A.M. at the Russon Mortuary at 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah 84025, with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. prior to the service. Her interment will be in the Roy City Cemetery.
The funeral service will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary Live Facebook page and on this obituary page, where it will appear 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the service at 11:00 A.M.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Fairfield Village and Whisper Cove for their service and dedicated care of Joyce for the past nine years as she suffered from the devastating effects of memory loss.
