Joyce Allred West was born in Georgetown, Idaho, Sept. 13, 1917 to Archie Darrell Allred and Ellen Smith Allred; she died Dec. 31, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah of causes incident to age. She married Willard Joseph West, Nov. 19, 1937 in the Logan Utah Temple. She graduated Logan High School, and attended Utah State Agricultural College now Utah State University for two years where she affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and served as the assistant to the Dean of Women. She worked in a family-owned real estate business and in retail sales, but her principal ?profession? was serving her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is universally heralded by her extensive posterity as a wonderful cook, family organizer and genealogist, social director and party planner. She has fifteen grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. In 1959, she was a founder and charter member of the Indian Trail Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers DUP and served later as the Camp?s captain. She was recently recognized for her service of more than 50 years to the DUP. Joyce was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the ward and stake leadership of the Young Women, Young Adults, and Relief Society while living in Logan, Price, Cedar City, Springville, and Bountiful. She also served with her husband as ward missionary. For ten years she was a missionary at Temple Square, and for the past 20 years, she and her husband served as Church Service Missionaries in the Member Location Program in the Church?s Member and Records Department. Joyce?s father, mother, and two sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Willard, and her three children: Joseph Eileen West of Bountiful, UT; Mary Ellen West of Henderson, NV; and, Richard Sharon West of North Logan, UT. Funeral services will be held in her honor at the Canyon Park Ward, 1190 E Bountiful Hills Dr. approx. 900 S, Bountiful, UT, at 11 am on Wed., Jan. 6, 2010. There will be a viewing Tues., Jan. 5, 2010 from 6 until 8 pm at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N Main St., Bountiful, UT and from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Wed., Jan. 6, 2010 at the Canyon Park Ward prior to the service. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery, 1000 N 1200 E, Logan, UT with services there to begin at 2:45 pm.
