Juanita Jane Welty

April 6, 1941 — January 17, 2022

Juanita Jane Welty passed away peacefully in her bed on January 17, 2022, in Bountiful, UT.  Juanita was born April 6th, 1941, in Freedom, OK to the late Jason & Iola Van Pelt Welty.  She was the 2nd of 4 daughters and one son.  She graduated from Ford High School, Ford Kansas in 1959.

At 20 she met missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized a member.  She appreciated the fact that she was born on the 111th anniversary of the organization of the Church.  She shared this faith with 2 of her sisters and her brother.  She would migrate to Salt Lake City, where she met Bernhard Strahl and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 17, 1965.  They were blessed with a daughter and 3 sons.

While attending nursing school she gave birth to their daughter.  She then obtained her nursing degree which she would utilize to support her family as a single mother, residing first in Bountiful, UT, then Woods Cross, UT.  Later after she was done raising her kids, she retired from Lakeview Hospital and moved back to Wichita, KS for several years. In 2005, she moved back to Utah buying a condo in Centerville. She moved into assisted living in Bountiful, UT in 2018.

Juanita enjoyed being a nurse.  She enjoyed a good square dance.  She also researched her family history for many years.  In later years she really appreciated time and visits with family.

She is survived by her children: Teresa (Robb) Ouzts of North Salt Lake, Robert Strahl of Salt Lake City, Anthon (Tammy) Strahl of Murray, and David (Kathy) Strahl of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren: Elliott Willis and Elli Strahl; sisters: Beverly Larsen & Kathy (Michael) Galieti; brother: Robert (Marty) Welty; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister: Dolores Crockett.

The family wishes to thank Envision Home Health and Hospice, specifically Shasta her nurse, Hailey her CNA, Pastor Jared, and the social worker Nate. Also, gratitude for Heritage Place, now called True Wood.
