Juanita Larue Robbins Newsome

1922 – 2016

Daughter of Edgar Beresford Robbins and Helen Masche, was born in Salt Lake City on June 21, 1922 (first day of summer, longest day of the year).  She grew up in a loving home across the street north of Temple Square down a rose-filled court called Almond Street.

After a short stint at LDS Business College, she was employed at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.  She was affiliated with Beta Sigma Phi and served with the Red Cross.

Married William David Newsome (Bill) on April 24, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  "All my love, all my life".

As a grateful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Juanita served with a happy heart in all that she was called to do.   Along with her dear husband, she served as a guide on Temple Square and as a host at Pioneer Village (Lagoon).

The written word has always been her recreation, escape, hobby and greatest pleasure (aside from her family).

These are a few of her favorite things:  family, church, books, stationery, shoes, waterfalls, yesterdays, conversation, Indian Summer, the sun, sea, sand and surf, a fire on the hearth, flowers-wild and abundant, dancing, mentholatum, a couple of good chocolates, music; especially Artie Shaw's "Begin the Beguine" and the sound of a train whistle especially in the night…and MEMORIES!

Left to cherish her memories are her children: David, Steven, Wendy Thomas (Jeffrey), Michael (Linda) and daughter-in-law Julie, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, son Bradley, grandson Lance, great grandson Tag, parents, and brother Eddie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25 at noon at the Bountiful Orchard Stake Center, 3599 S. Orchard Drive.  A viewing will be held Tuesday May 24 from 6-8 at the Bountiful Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main and at the church from 10:30-11:30 prior to the services.  Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.

Thank you to Adagio Hospice for their loving care.
