Julia Gustaveson

Biography

1929-2012
Julia Anne passed away at home on January 18, 2012 from complications due to bone marrow failure.
She was born February 19, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Joseph William Neville Jr. and Julia Taylor Neville, the second of five children. She lived in Salt Lake City, Cedar City, Escalante, Ogden and Kaysville, Utah. She is a graduate of Weber High and Brigham Young University, from which she graduated with honors.
Julia Anne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Northern California, Chinese Mission. Upon her return she taught elementary school in Salt Lake City. While she was teaching she met her husband Robert C. Gustaveson. She and Robert were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1955. They lived in Salt Lake City while Robert attended law school. After Robert graduated they moved to California where they lived for forty-six years in Pomona and Claremont.
Julia Anne had a strong testimony of the Church and was a dedicated member. She was active in the Church, serving in the Primary, Relief Society and as a Seminary teacher. She also was a representative for the Church on the Pomona Valley Council of Churches as well the Public Relations liaison for the LaVerne Stake. She served her community by working as the first woman Planning Commissioner for the City of Pomona, as well as the President of the Republican Women. She loved to write and was a great homemaker who made a loving home for her family.
Julia Anne is survived by her brothers: Joseph (Evelyn) Neville, Bruce (Beth Ann) Neville, and Robert (Maxine) Neville; her husband Robert C. Gustaveson and five children: Jan (Don) Harris, Christy (Mark) Taylor, Barbara, Susan, and Carl (Valerie) Gustaveson. She was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph, her mother Julia and her sister Nancy (Drew Van Wagoner).
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Quail Crossing LDS Chapel (2230 S 350 E Kaysville Utah). There will be a viewing at Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Friday, January 27, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the Chapel. A short graveside service beginning at 2:30PM will precede the interment, which will take place in Hyrum, Utah at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
