Julianna Miller Brooks returned to her heavenly home early in the morning of Friday, April 7, 2023, to be reunited with her beloved husband. She was 84 years old.
Julianna was born of goodly parents, Reinhold Miller and Virginia Barnum, on January 4, 1939, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the youngest of 11 children. Preceding her in death are her beloved husband of 66 years, Loren Clyde Brooks, her parents, and all but one of her siblings. She is survived by her brother, Calvin Miller, her brother in-law, Royal Harvard Brooks, and her six children: Karsten (Nancy Allred), Carolyn (Mike Nielsen), Laura (Dave Perry), Karen (Bruce Ward), Barbara (Brett Olson), and Donna (Kevin van Uitert), as well as 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and a long list of loving nieces and nephews.
Julianna met Loren at a church-sponsored dance when she was just 16 years old. After her graduation from Las Vegas High School, Julianna and Loren were married on June 28, 1957, in the St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their relationship and marriage are a wonderful example of loyalty and love.
While Loren was training to be an agent for the FBI, Julianna worked as a clerk in the fingerprinting department. She then began her full-time career as wife, mother and homemaker. She taught her children the importance of prayer, scripture study, and the value of family and Family Home Evening. She will be remembered for the lessons she taught by example, lullabies at bedtime, comforting words and encouragement, and for the ever present song coming from her heart and lips.
Julianna had a passion for music -- particularly singing. She had the voice of an angel, with a spirit to match. She understood the power of music and its influence for good. She was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cheerfully served as a chorister for Primary, Sacrament meeting, and Relief Society. She also enjoyed her time singing with the Sweet Adelines, a women's chorus she joined while living in Oklahoma. She loved to perform and happily sang in church meetings, special events, and funeral services for friends and family. She shared music with everyone and, in the process, blessed their lives.
Julianna enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, canning and preserving, skiing, exercising, writing, fishing, hiking, laughing, camping, nutrition, swimming, singing, and dancing with her sweetheart.
She respected all life, and even small spiders and insects were kindly escorted out of her home. She blessed others with charity and compassion. Kindness, in word and deed, was her life. She showed her love with time and service and would sing as she went about all of her duties and activities. It was a joy to be with her.
Her family expresses gratitude to the doctors, nurses, aides, and staff members who cared for her at Creekside Senior Living Center.
