Julie Franson, our caring, generous, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend finally got her wish to be with mom and dad again on a perfect sunny morning, June 13, 2019. She was born on a Sunday morning, October 1, 1950, with a fiery spirit that matched her auburn hair. She left the same way, determined to the end.
Living most of her growing up years in Woods Cross, Julie graduated from Viewmont High School, class of ’68. She loved music and was in the A ’Capella choir where she loved being in the school musicals. Her favorite was “My Fair Lady” – this lead to a great love of musicals.
Julie shared anything she had. She was generous to a fault! Her nieces and nephews always introduced her as “My Aunt Julie who spoils us rotten” and every holiday was spent going shopping for Valentines, Easter treats, pumpkins and many trips to the dollar store where each was given $5 to spend however they pleased. Birthdays were always a spectacle of never-ending joy and she always remembered your favorite sweet treats. Our Christmas library is extensive as we always began the holiday the first week of December with the gift of a new book from Julie carefully and lovingly chosen with a special message just for us.
Her chosen vocation ended in 35 years of service to the Family and Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints where she assisted in the completion of the 1851 and 1881 British census projects. During that time her ‘fun’ job was also working for Western Foods at the Salt Palace, Utah State Fair, and other venues. She loved working at the Jazz games where she made many friends and was heart-broken when the Golden Eagles Hockey team left.
She learned cake decorating from our Aunt Janet and thus began another adventure of catering weddings. Many bride and grooms were treated with beautiful cakes decorated with frosting flowers and delicately-draped lacework along with delicious food for their guests. Her birthday cakes were legendary as she would always match them with favorite super-heroes, Disney princesses, cartoon characters or elegant flowers.
We are forever indebted for her unselfishness as she served our parents in their last years. She lovingly took them to their doctor visits and made sure their every need was met. When they passed through the veil, she missed them EVERY DAY! We are truly grateful for our faith in Heavenly Father’s plan and the knowledge that she was greeted in heaven with open arms as she joined them, our brother Michael, grandparents, and aunts and uncles whom she always remembered every Memorial Day.
Preceded in death by parents, Floyd Maxwell and Ranae (Hatch) Franson, brother, Michael Dean Franson, and special doggies Midgie and Lacey.
She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Bill (wherever he may be), Lois Fisher (Brad), Brent (Glorie), and Carrie Ashwell (Sean). Nieces and nephews (whom she spoiled rotten): Erika Coleman (Steven), Erin Edwards (Taylor), Emilee Donaldson (Daniel), Andrew Fisher (Janessa). Grand-nieces and nephews: Elizabeth and Christopher Ashwell, Camille and Addilyn Coleman, Avery and Kendall Edwards, Norah, Wesley and Margot Donaldson, and a niece to be born in October, Emerson Fisher, also Ronnie, Trish and Scott Franson. Aunt Janet Franson, Kay Franson, Wendy (Robert) Wood. Uncle Clark (Evelyn) Hatch and many cousins, friends and neighbors who served her. We can’t forget grand-nephew dogs Duncan and Toby-bones.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 18th at the Woods Cross 3rd Ward, 1450 So. 350 West, Bountiful. Friends and family may visit Monday, June 17th from 6 – 8 pm at Russon Mortuary 295 So. Main, Bountiful, or prior to services at the church 9:30 – 10:45 am.
