Julie Tuttle Benedict passed away peacefully on August 5th at her home in the loving care of her family. Julie always lived life to the fullest even during her 5 year long battle with ovarian cancer. Julie was born in Salt Lake City on July 17, 1957 to Barbara and Glenn Tuttle. She was the middle child between her older brother, Mark Tuttle, and younger sister, Sherri (Tuttle) Hammond. She was raised in Bountiful. Julie and George later moved to Farmington to raise their two sons Brad and TJ.
Julie is survived by her husband George, sons and their families: Brad (Brittany), her grandson Blake, TJ (Cami), her siblings Mark Tuttle, Sherri (Tuttle) Hammond and their families as well as many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Barbara Tuttle.
Julie met her loving husband, George Edward Benedict, at a young single adult activity. Their first date together was to see the first Star Wars movie, and that was nearly their last. After nearly a year of courtship Julie and George were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 22, 1978. They recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary among family and friends; this year marking 38 years together.
In caring for her family she always maintained a well cleaned home with immaculate gardens that were often compared to those at Temple Square. Her home was always a gathering place for friends and family with a Benedict “general store” to accommodate all those coming in and out. Julie blessed the lives of many and truly had a love for everyone she met. She was continually looking for opportunities to quietly serve all those around her.
Her passions include traveling, gardening, scrapbooking and spending time with her family. She loved to take cruises and went on many vacations with family members and friends. She especially loved taking her kids on a final family vacation to Maui this spring. We thank her dear work family at Deseret Mutual Benefits Administration for making this trip possible. Julie loved working among her friends at DMBA for over 17 years as an accountant.
Julie was a lifelong member of the LDS church and had a strong faith throughout her battle with cancer that her Heavenly Father would take care of her. She knows that her place in her family did not end with this life and looked forward to reuniting with those who have already passed.
