June Crawford

July 2, 1924 — May 27, 2013

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, June Davis Crawford, 88, passed from mortality into the eternal realm to be with her husband, daughter, parents, and many other loved ones on Monday, May 27, 2013. June was born in Annabella, Utah on July 2, 1924, to Lorenzo Edwin and Vivian Ann Roberts Davis. During her childhood she lived in Annabella and Richfield, Utah, where she emerged at an early age as a leader and organizer. June graduated from Richfield High School in 1942 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Utah School of Nursing in 1945. She worked intermittently at hospitals in various locations until her retirement in 1989 from Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, where she had been the Nursing Supervisor for several years. She then worked several more years as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, helping cancer patients and their families.
June married Robert Grant Crawford on October 11, 1944; they were sealed in the Manti Temple a year later. Bob’s Air Force career took them many places, including Tokyo, Japan and Spokane, Washington, places she loved. They moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1970 where Bob worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and where she stayed for the next 36 years before moving to Utah County in 2006.
June was known throughout her life for her service and kindness to others. She loved music, played the violin, and sang very well. She loved to have dinner parties for large groups of family and friends, who enjoyed her excellent cooking skills. She also enjoyed camping and spending time at the cabin that she and Bob built with help from family members. She made good friends wherever she went because of her cheerful disposition and love of people. She served in many callings in the LDS church, including Relief Society President, Laurel teacher, and 17 years as Compassionate Service Leader in her Bountiful ward. She and Bob were serving a Church Service mission at the time of his death in 1993. June continued the work for a total of seven years.
June was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her daughter Linda, her parents, her brother Stan, her sister Carol, and her granddaughter Caroline. She is survived by two brothers, Gerald (Marilyn) Davis of Centerville, UT, Robert (Rita) Davis of Gilbert, AZ, three children, Karen Dee (Jerry) Taylor of Elk Ridge, UT, Robert Stephen Crawford (Keven) of Arlington, TX, Marshall Andrew Crawford (Karin) of Denver, CO, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at the LDS Chapel, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Drive, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Monday morning 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
