June P. Hood, of Sunset, Utah, passed away on October 6, 2007. June was born on October 5, 1917 to Joseph H. and Rozina Winegar Parkin in Woods Cross Utah. She married Gordon Hood on September 11, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. June loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing while on vacations. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions throughout her life. She especially loved the time she spent as a Blazer Teacher preparing young men for the scouting program. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved her family dearly and always let them know she cared. She enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Hyrum and Rozina Winegar Parkin, and three brothers and two sisters: Elliot, Floyd and Lloyd Parkin, and Susie Page Judd, and Vieva Parkin. June is survived by two sons: Gary Gordon Betty Hood, Porterville, CA., Scott Lloyd Jean Hood, Sunset, Utah; seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff at Country Pines Assisted living Center, Hospice of Utah, and Rocky Mountain Care, for the love and care they gave to June. Graveside Service will be Thursday, October 11, 2007, at 2:00 pm at the Mountain View Cemetery at 3115 E. 2800 S., SLC. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main. and Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 pm prior to the service.
