June Natalie Samuels Calder 1926-2011
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. On June 8, 2011, June peacefully passed away at the Avalon Care Center, Bountiful, Utah. Born 6/30/26 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lillian Ellison and Frank Lee Samuels. She married Donald Calder on 4/16/46. Their marriage was solemnized on 2/13/64 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A graduate of West High School, June was born to dance. Her initial career was as a professional dancer and member of the Savoy Dancers. During WWII the Savoy Dancers toured with Jan Murrays USO Tour, entertaining our soldiers and veterans. She also was a member of the Bountiful Sweet Adelines for a number of years. Then she turned her time and talents to her passiongenealogy. She was employed for many years by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the genealogy department. Upon retiring she served a volunteer mission in the same service. June also served as President of the Utah Genealogy Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Junes most meaningful accomplishment was that of a loving and committed wife and mother of her six children, and the service she rendered to her dear friends whom she cherished, and all she knew. June was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Donald Calder; sister, Melba (Gerard Bueneman), brother, Arvil Rose; and grandson, Nathan Felt. Survivors are sons Donald Scott Calder (Karen); Jeffrey Mason Calder; Judy Lee Calder; LeAnn Felt; Connie Jo Calder; Penny Marie Rasmussen (Les); nephew, Tim Bueneman; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
