June Wetzel

June Rasmussen Wetzel 1925 ~ 2010 Barbara June Rasmussen Wetzel made her transition to the spiritual world peacefully in her home on December 22, 2010 after a short but brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Born August 20, 1925 in Bingham, UT to Clyde Peter and Josefina Ellen Rhodes Rasmussen. She married Francis Timms Wetzel and had five children. Although later divorced, they remained lifelong friends. The death of her infant son William left a lasting sadness in her heart. A patient, dedicated mother and grandmother, Mom was a wonderful listener and always had time for family and friends. She was a fabulous seamstress, designing and making clothing for all her sisters, daughter and of course Barbie. Moms knitting skills equaled her sewing. June began her own bookkeeping business in Fremont, CA in 1978 and continued to keep books for her childrens businesses in Salt Lake City and New York until her death. Full of energy and independence, she traveled often, cared for her gardens, mowed her lawn and shoveled snow until the age of 84. Survived by her children; Francis (Theresa) Park City, Kathleen (Sam) Barnett Salt Lake City, Thomas (Doreen) Rock Springs, WY and Robert New York, NY, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sisters Grace, Beverly, Janet and JoEllen. She was preceded in death by her son, William; grandson, Alex; parents; sister, Dorothy; and former husband. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Mount Olivet Cemetery (1342 East 500 South, SLC) followed by a reception at her home.
