Junior McReynolds

January 5, 1929 — February 19, 2011

J. Ray McReynolds January 5, 1929 – February 19, 2011 Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, J. Ray McReynolds, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 19, 2011 from the effects of age. Though his presence brought happiness to many, we are comforted that he can find his own eternal peace and rest with our Father in Heaven. Life brought Ray challenges, and each time he rose to the occasion. Growing up with four brothers and only a mother to provide for them during The Depression, Ray persevered. He enlisted as a member of the National Guard in his early adult life, doing his part to serve his country. Throughout his youth and growing up, Ray and his brothers had many experiences that resulted in him telling personal adventure stories to his grandchildren. Upon marrying his eternal partner Elaine, Ray gave everything he had to provide for his family. Being the author of a series of Do-It-Yourself books on electricity, plumbing, sprinkling systems and room finishing, Ray had a talent for fixing and helping others with their household projects. His books are respected and still sold across the United States. Considered a master fisherman, Ray spent as much time as possible with a pole in his hand, cheese in his pocket, and calling for his fish. While spending time with family and friends, Ray was always good for a joke. He had a knack for humor and his happiness was contagious. Wherever Ray was found, a smile and peanut butter were sure to be close by. Though Ray did much for many, his wife Elaine was his heart and soul. Together they lived a simple and happy life. Indeed, Ray was a mans man with a tender heart and will be dearly missed. We love you. Ray is survived by wife, Elaine, children, Gary McReynolds, Brent (Kellie) McReynolds, Kim (Patricia) McReynolds, Ronald (Barbara) McReynolds, Kathryn (Derek) Peterson, Brenda (Michael) Sundwall, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and brother Gus McReynolds. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Sterling, Stanley, and Stephen McReynolds. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and Wednesday morning at 9:45 am prior to services. Interment – Centerville City Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com.
