Kalynn Burningham Olsen

Kalynn Burningham Olsen passed away June 15, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kalynn was born in North Ogden, Utah, on September 6, 1961, to Melvin S. Burningham and Laurel Jensen Burningham. As a child, she was like sunshine – warm and loving.  She was the youngest of eight children and her personality has always been to show affection, and she was known for her loving hugs. She would always say “I love you …”.

She married Joe Caldwell in 1984. They had two beautiful daughters, Shannon Kara Neslen and Miranda Jane Park. She later married Paul Olsen and gained an amazing son, KC Olsen.

She was the best grandma any kid could ask for. Her “grandboys” as she liked to call them, were her whole world. 
 
She was a social butterfly while working at Spanky’s and Hallmark in Bountiful. Bowling was one of her favorite weekly activities. Bear Lake was a favorite vacation spot, and she loved her trip to New York City to see her brother in 2019.
 
She loved “hanging out” with her daughters, sisters and mother. They enjoyed exotic girls’ outings to places like Blackfoot, St. George, Palm Desert, Gig Harbor and Park City. There was lots of shopping, cooking, eating, games, laughing and special memories.
 
Kalynn helped care for her aging mother, who passed away in 2020 at age 100, for many years. They enjoyed watching Price is Right in the morning and doing puzzles and playing games together in the evenings. Kalynn loved her game shows. She loved to collect and has a rare collection of salt and pepper shakers.

After 30 years living with Type 1 diabetes,  Kalynn received a kidney transplant from a wonderful and loyal friend and customer at Spanky’s. Thank you Heather for giving us twelve extra years. 
 
Kalynn is survived by her daughters Shannon (Chris) Neslen and Miranda (Alex) Park, and her son, KC Olsen. Her grandsons Carson Neslen, Hudson Neslen, and Oliver Park. Siblings, Joyce (Gale) Larsen, Ross Burningham, Marianne (Robert) Chamberlain, Kris (Kelly) Long, Dave Burningham, Cheryl (Mark) Shafer, and John (Lynne) Burningham. 

She will be greatly missed by many more grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. There will be no other services.
