Karen Sue Dowdle, age 57, passed away on December 6, 2011 in Bountiful, Utah due to a recent illness. She is survived by her parents, Jack and Barbara Dowdle; four sisters: Deon, Moana, Danielle and Sara; and two brothers: Chris and Kevin. Karen was born August 29, 1954 in Provo, Utah. Karen was a year old when she, her older sister and parents served an LDS Building Mission to the Tongan Islands in the South Pacific for three and a half years. She grew up in Boise and Meridian, Idaho. At age 18 and a freshman at BYU in Provo, Utah, Karen was critically injured from a car accident in 1973 and sustained permanent disabilities. For nearly 39 years Karen had been cared for by her parents, family and friends in their home. Prior to the accident, Karen loved to cook, sing, dance, and was the life of the party. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Center Street LDS Church, 261 East Center Street, No. Salt Lake, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
