Karen Elaine Jensen

June 11, 1946 — September 12, 2021

On September 12, 2021 Karen Elaine Jensen passed on to join family and friends to be with our Father in Heaven and await the day when her family will be together again. She gave so much in this life to further our Father’s plan, but her greatest care and love was for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, but she will always be remembered.
Karen Elaine Raper was born June 11, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Marion Eldon Raper and Erma Vera Nelson Raper. Karen grew up in Topeka, Kansas as the oldest of four daughters. In the summer of 1965 during a mutual activity she was introduced to a young man who was considered quite the catch by all the girls. After a short three weeks he asked her to marry him. Karen wasn’t quite sure he was serious until he slipped a ring on her finger six weeks later. On December 18, 1965 Gary O Jensen and Karen Elaine Raper were sealed in the Manti Utah Temple. They returned to Utah to attend BYU where she graduated with a Business Associates Degree. Over the years and as their family grew they were blessed with three daughters and two sons. Gary and Karen moved their family from American Fork to Cedar City, then Ireland to England to Arizona and finally settled in Sandy, UT. Throughout the years Karen worked on and off to help support the family.
Karen had many talents in sewing, knitting, and cross-stitch. She loved to read, she loved learning and developing her abilities and talents, and she was well known for her many well loved recipes. But of all her talents her greatest passion was quilting, and it was during her time in Ireland that her love for quilting began. She continuously had a quilt set up in her living room where by hand she could be found ever at work. Of all her interests her greatest love in this life was for her husband and family. She loved her family more than life and was a Savior on Mt. Zion for them.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Jensen, children: Claudia (Brian), Wendy, Gary (Tricia), Lindsay (Justin), and Joel; her 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and sisters: Mary (Bill), Marsha (Rick), and Nancy (Kevin).
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2012, at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward chapel at 1600 E. Buttercup Drive, Sandy, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
