Karen Fay Cespedez

October 10, 1941 — December 29, 2019

Karen Fay Knight Cespedez passed away on December 29, 2019 surrounded by those who loved her.

Karen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 10, 1941 to parents Alonzo and Iona Knight.  Her family moved to Bountiful, Utah when she was age three and she has resided there ever since.

She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1959 and went on to study at LDS Business College.  Her first and only job starting at age 19 was for Mountain Bell, which later became Qwest Communications (and now Centurylink) from which she retired from 30 years later.  She made many lifelong friendships with her co workers at Qwest.

After a year long letter writing relationship, she married her husband Alberto in the Salt Lake Temple on October 7, 1977.  Throughout their marriage they have travelled the world, visiting Alberto’s home country of Bolivia multiple times, living in Saudi Arabia and visiting several other countries and states throughout the years.  Karen loved to travel and always had a travel story to share.

Another great love of hers was her love of crafting.  Her home was always decorated with something she had handmade.  Ranging from cross stitching to crocheting to plastic canvas décor, she was always making something.  She also loved working on genealogy and staying in contact with family and friends through phone calls and letters…she loved a good conversation.

One of her latest and greatest joys was becoming a Grandma….she adored this role and her grandchildren adored her…she loved to feed, sing to and rock each one of them to sleep as babies as well as take naps with them on her lap.

Karen is survived by her husband Alberto Cespedez, daughters Nivia Cespedez and Alyson Gedeon (Albert) and three grandchildren Michael (3), Cassi (2) and Zachary (11months). Brother Lurlen Knight (Janet) and several nieces and nephews.  The family will hold a Celebration of Life in Karen’s honor.  Karen was the perfect example of kindness and love that will be forever loved and missed.
