Karlin passed away on September 23, 2021, at the age of 72, in the comfort of her home in Woods Cross, Utah. She has been reunited with previously passed family members and great comfort is taken in that knowledge. Although her loved ones will miss her tremendously, they take solace in knowing that Karlin has been relieved of her pain and they will continue to celebrate the vibrant life she led.
Karlin Joy Cundick Guymon was born on June 7, 1949, in Murray, Utah to Galen & Lloy Cundick. She has been happily married to the love of her life, Mike Guymon for the last 11 years. Her children want to thank Mike for taking such good care of her for the last couple of years. Mike & Karlin loved to go on drives together and listen to music while they drove. Karlin loved to listen to Don Williams and sing along. She knew every word. When they would go for drives, Mike used to go the long way around just because he loved listening to her sing and look at her while she was so happy. They loved going to the Deseret Industries and look for treasures. They were always on the hunt for that one teapot that had someone’s million dollars hidden inside it. Unfortunately, that never happened but they still had fun! They had such a special connection.
Karlin was previously married to Bob Bennion and together they were blessed with the arrival of their son, Cory. After that marriage ended, she met and married John Schwisow and they proudly welcomed their son Brett Schwisow. She also gladly and lovingly took on the role of mother to John’s three daughters Kim, Angie & Nikki.
As an instant mother of 5 she instilled in the family a love of all things Halloween & Christmas. Decorations for both holidays came out early and stayed up late. Karlin loved playing Come to Court in the dark with all of us and scaring the daylights out of one another. (Which all of our significant others will thank her for) She loved Stephen King books and scary movies, including making all her kids and grandkids watch Salem’s Lot. Along with her love of Neil Diamond, the Chicago Cubs, the Miami Dolphins and watching the Jazz play basketball, she was also quite the jokester and loved telling jokes. If you knew Karlin for longer than 30 minutes, then you have probably heard her “Frayed Knot” joke. She loved cow tails, black licorice, playing gin rummy and had one of the best laughs. She leaves behind so many special memories of wonderful meals, around the dining room table, delicious chocolate roll, sweet potatoes being dropped on the floor, rice pudding (that only some of her children liked), hard tack candy, Halloween decorations, throwing buckets of water out the window, and playing hide & seek in the clothes hampers. Karlin will be missed dearly!
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lloy Paswaters Cundick, her father Galen Cundick, her brother Dale Cundick and her sister Karen Cundick Klungervik (Bud Klungervik)
Karlin was a wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother to a large loving family. She is survived by her husband, Mike Guymon and his family, stepbrother Roy Bowman, sons Cory Bennion & Brett Schwisow, daughters Kim Ashton, Angie Fetters & Nikki Manson, grandchildren, Josh, Zoe, Makenna & Abby along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was also a great stepmom and grandma to Mike’s kids and grandchildren.
