Kathleen "Kay" Brewerton Allred

April 23, 1926 — March 6, 2019

Just around this time, April 23, 1926, Spring was making an effort to break its way through a cold Lethbridge, Alberta Winter, when Kathleen Brewerton arrived.  Baby Kathleen returned home to parents Gordon Stuart Brewerton & Lottie Corless Brewerton.  By written accounts and family stories, their family life sounds almost idyllic.

Kathleen Brewerton Allred was most often known as "Kay". This name change she managed to acquire during her busy, fun & colorful teenage years.  Following a dance conference in Calgary, Alberta, she seemed to feel that "Kay" was more suited for her in their little town of Cardston.

Kay was a resident of Bountiful, Utah, where she resided with her sweetheart and husband of 72 years, Gordon Keith Allred.  Those 72 years do not include the many years from their youthful acquaintance in elementary school all throughout the years, until the very day of their marriage, on June 11, 1946. A love that continues still and will throughout eternity.

Kathleen Allred passed away due to the incident of age on Wednesday, March 6, in her home in Bountiful, Utah.

She had a great love of so many things: her husband, Gordon Keith Allred, her family, the gospel, music (both in song and in dance), her hobby, the roses she so enjoyed cultivating and arranging into a visually beautiful arrangement.  Of all these, her love of family and music seem to have been favorites.

Of course, she taught the gospel continually through music, specifically Primary music.  Mother was the Primary and Junior Sunday School chorister for as long as any of us can remember.  So many of those she taught, now adults, have expressed their love and appreciation for the education in the gospel they received through her teaching of gospel principles in the hundreds of Primary songs she taught.

She so enjoyed her calling as a cherished companion, wife, and mother.  Her sacrifices made it possible for Gordon to fulfill his extensive family, church, business, and community responsibilities in her beloved Long Beach, California.  In life, she was a blessing to us all, as she most certainly will be in the next estate of her life.

Leaving a large posterity she is survived by her children: Douglas Charles Brewerton Allred (Missy), Michael Gordon Allred (Diane), Julie Allred Coles (H. Brent), Charisse Allred Johnson (David), and Tracy Anderson Allred (Lisa); 25 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 16, 2019, in the chapel at Russon's Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT  84010.  A Viewing will precede the service  at 9:30 am, with the Family Viewing commencing at 10:30 am.   Interment will follow at Memorial Lakeview, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful, UT.

As a family, we know that just as she was welcomed with love when she joined her family on earth, we find comfort in knowing this same family welcomed her home above.  We wish to thank all those of you who both knew and loved her while she completed and endured her time here on earth.
