Kathy Chenovic Wilson passed away on June 9, 2021 after an extended illness. She slipped away in her sleep in the company of the two people she loved most, her beloved children. Kathy was born on August 29, 1942 in Hurricane, Utah to Delmina Earl and Peter Paul Chenovic. She always said she was so excited to be born that she started to come while her mom was at the Peach Day Parade celebration. Kathy was raised in the small town of Virgin, Utah, near Zions National Park, in a little adobe home that her dad built. They had a humble life but she had a wonderful childhood. She was her dad’s little buddy and loved riding around with him on the tractor and playing cowboys and indians in the river bottoms with the other kids. She went to Hurricane High School, was a proud member of the Tigerettes Drill Team, was on the yearbook committee, and performed in drama productions. In high school she also met her husband, who she later divorced. From that marriage Kathy had 2 children; Dana (Wilson) Hendrickson and Scott Wilson. Years later she met the love of her life, Gordan “Mac” McClellan. They had so much fun together; laughing, golfing, fishing, playing cards, and just spending time with each other. He preceded her in death in April of 2003. She was always a hard worker and took a lot of pride in her successful career as a sales representative for a food brokerage. She retired from her sales career in 2010.
Her children were the center of her life, everything she did was with them in mind. Her dad called them the 3 Musketeers, they were always together. She was their security, wisdom, humor, and the one they knew they could always rely on. The greatest gift she gave them was her love. She loved with every fiber of her being. Her friends and family were the most important things in her life. If you were her friend – you were lucky and blessed – because she was there for you 100%. She was “Grammy” to her grandchildren – and oh how she loved them!! She cherished her time with them and loved supporting them in their various activities, such as, dance performances, sporting events, or just listening to their interests. She was their biggest cheerleader.
Kathy had many interests that she loved doing during her lifetime. She loved to go for a drive, watch sports – especially the Jazz and the Utes – participate in bowling leagues, play card games – especially pinochle, and go golfing. She and her kids and Mac spent many hours on the golf course enjoying each other’s company. She also loved to go camping and fishing. She was an amazing cook, one of the family’s favorite dishes were her enchiladas – a staple every year at the family Super Bowl Party.
Kathy leaves behind daughter Dana (Alex) Hendrickson and son Scott Wilson; 7 grandchildren Sydney Hendrickson, Brady Hendrickson, Jessica Wilson, Colton Wilson, Star Wilson and Jayden Wilson, and one sibling Marilynn (Malin) Gardner. Her sweet dog Rusty! And also her dear friends!! She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Tana (Bud) Corlett.
Kathy is going to be dearly missed by all of us who love her so much. Her amazing capacity to love has been felt by so many of us and will help sustain us till we meet with her again. We are thankful that she is now in the comforting arms of her loved ones that have gone before and is free from her failing body. Good night mom, we love you and we will see you again!!!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
