Katie "Kate" Rose Stratford

June 16, 1994 — November 15, 2017

Katie Rose Stratford passed away on November 15, 2017, at her apartment in North Salt Lake, Utah. Katie dealt valiantly with mental illness for many years, but ultimately was unable to carry on with her mortal life.

Katie was born on June 16, 1994, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mark Haines Stratford and Elizabeth Stratford. She was the oldest of seven siblings: Sarah, Amber, David, Thomas, Ella and Carly.

Katie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended school at Grandview Elementary in Ogden and Mount Ogden Middle School. In 2007, her family moved to Farmington where Katie attended Farmington Junior High and graduated from Davis High School. She was a CNA and had passed her EMT exam with hopes of pursuing a career in medicine. She was enrolled at Salt Lake Community College.

Katie always wanted to travel and volunteered for the International Language Program in Kiev, Ukraine, and Pachuca, Mexico. In the summer of 2017, she worked for Princess Cruises in Ketchikan, Alaska. Katie married Drew Channing Pectol on November 13, 2015. Together they travelled to Thailand. Although they later divorced they still loved each other. As teenagers they were the parents of a son, Noah Atticus Nielson, born August 1, 2011, whom they placed for adoption with a wonderful family. Katie was involved with their family and they invited her to share holidays and birthdays with him.

Katie had a wonderful smile and found dear friends from all walks of life. She was highly intelligent and loved singing, performing, art, and cake making. She loved her family, including aunts, uncles and cousins.

Katie is survived by her grandmother Edna W. Stratford of South Ogden, parents, siblings and Noah. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dale E. Stratford and by Holland B. and Carolyn Ford of Spokane Washington.

Interment at Ogden City Cemetery.
