Kay Scott Roundy

July 10, 1936 — January 21, 2018

Kay Scott, 81, returned to his Father in Heaven on Sunday January 21st in Bountiful, Utah.  He passed away with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side. Kay was born July 10th, 1936 to Joseph Moroni and Joyce Elna Roundy in Logan, Utah.  He is the oldest of four children, younger siblings are Carlos Burdell, Lyle John and Elna Jean.  Logan was very close to his heart as he graduated from Logan High in 1954 and later attended Utah State University where he studied Architecture but would later develop a passion for computer science. Kay spent his career working with computers.

After High School, Kay enlisted in the Army. He served in many countries in Europe, most notably Germany, where he developed an overwhelming passion for his country. Kay's patriotism ran deep and his experiences influenced the lives all of his loved ones and his service in the Army shaped the rest of his life.

Kay married the love his life, Judy Ann Woodward in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22nd 1961.  He and Judy raised their family as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kay had a special relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ and worked very hard to set a Christ-like example for his family.

Service was Kay's MO.  His entire life was devoted to working hard to provide for his family. He spent long periods of time traveling on business to ensure his family was taken care of and loved serving his church in any city where he was working.

Kay loved the spirt of the Olympics and the unity the games bring. In 2002, he was able to volunteer at many Olympic venues, where his passion for pin collecting continued from his Army days. He loved getting the Olympic pins and pictures he had collected and framing them to showcase his work.

Kay had a very soft heart and loved to help others. For the last few years of his life, he volunteered for Senior Companions where he would care for several elderly people a few days a week.

Kay had many hobbies including photography, picture framing, collecting pins, coins and sports memorabilia and listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  He loved to share these hobbies with his children and a lot of his stories would begin and end with these hobbies that he was so passionate about.

After retirement, Kay and Judy served an LDS Mission, where they gave guided tours at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and the Conference Center. This is where Kay shined. With his love of the church and his outgoing personality, he was loved by all who came through on tours. He loved to stay busy so he took on many jobs. Kay worked as an Usher at the Delta Center. He absolutely loved doing this job. He had the opportunity to meet many of the Utah Jazz players and would always bring home memorabilia to his kids and grandkids. Later, he was an Usher for the University of Utah. It was thrilling for him to attend so many U of U football, basketball games and gymnastics meets. He was Aggie blue all the way but loved working for the University of Utah.

Kay is survived by his loving wife Judy "Jude"; his five children: Jeff Woodward (Sara), Troy Scott (Summer), Heather Ann (Jerry Mabbott), Stefanie, Aaron Johnathan (Amy) and 12 grandchildren Julie, Jake, Carter, Dylan, Lilly, Braxton, Addison, Cameron, Colton, Sarah, Eric and Cecilee, and his dog, Annie.

Kay lived a very adventurous life and had so many interests and passions that made him so interesting and easy to love.  Kay's positive attitude was addicting and his smile could light up a room. Laughter is the best medicine and his laugh could cure anyone's day. When people asked him how he was doing, he would often respond with "better than ever and better than I deserve."  We now know that you are in a place that you most assuredly deserve. We love you!

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Shadows Ward, 1476 North 300 West, where a viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
