Kay Blackett Smtih

October 20, 1938 — December 15, 2020

Kay Blackett Smith, 82, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and fierce cheerleader passed away at home surrounded by those she loved so dearly on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.

Kay was born in Springville, Utah on October 20th, 1938 to Russel E. and Margaret E. Blackett. She met John Thomas Smith at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. They were married for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple on September 14th, 1957. They settled in Bountiful, Utah where together they raised their family and established many lifelong friendships.

Grandma Kay will forever be cherished for her grit to persevere and her grace to do it with loving kindness and generosity. We will miss her enthusiasm and spunk the most! She took the title of ‘homemaker’ to a whole new level. Always a clean and organized home with 3 square meals and an open seat at the dinner table if you happened to drop by. She never could sit still, had to be productive mostly in the name of serving others. Kay was fiercely loyal to family. Her family was and forever will be her pride and joy. She never missed a recital, game, performance or event in which one of her own was participating as long as she had anything to say about it. In fact, even her grandchildren’s teammates never quite felt ready to perform at their best until they saw Grandma Kay & Grandpa John take their designated place at the top of the bleachers. She was loved by all she knew and feared by those poor referees and opposing teams… until the game was over. Her strong character and loving personality will be missed and adored greatly until we meet again.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Russel Blackett, her brother Kent and sister Jane. She is survived in life by her eternal companion, John Smith, two children Shauna (Bruno) Frampton and Brian (Joyce) Smith, five precious grandchildren, eight adoring great grandchildren (and counting…quickly), her sister Mary Lynn (Marv) Jensen, along with many, many more relatives and friends.

Due to Covid-19, funeral services for immediate family will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. The services will be live-streamed for others interested in celebrating Kay’s wonderful life on the Wood Cross 3rd Ward YouTube channel via the below link.
