Keith Clark Anderson (Poppio), born on November 9, 1928, to Mildred and Eugene Anderson in Preston, Idaho, passed away on October 11, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
He grew up with three sisters: Elaine, LaRue, and Gloria Jean. He worked in the bakery and sugar-beet fields. He was a pole-vaulter, baseball player, and captained the Preston Indians basketball team to win the State Championship. Keith continued these sports in college at the University of Utah and then enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1945. Near the end of World War II, Keith was sent to Japan for two years.
After another stint at the U of U, Keith went to work in a drug store in Las Vegas where he reconnected with Marilyn Hatch from their earlier high school days. She became his wife of 25 years and mother of six of his children: Brad (Debbi), Vicki, Kirk (Hillary), Jeffrey, Tony, and William. They moved back to Logan, where Keith was the manager of Low Cost Drug Store. In 1970, Keith opened Chateau Drug with two partners in Ketchum, Idaho, and moved the family there. When asked what he loved most about his career at Chateau Drug, he said, “Being the boss.” He and Marilyn later divorced.
He met and married Susan Wilson. Keith helped raise her two sons, Troy, and Michael, and together they had a daughter, Lisa (Nate). Keith and his partners opened a second Chateau Drug in Rexburg, Idaho. He and Susan divorced.
He first met Lois Pilling in Utah and they were happily married until her death in 2020. They enjoyed travelling together, attending church services, and making a home in their condo in Sun Valley.
Having been an avid sportsman, particularly in skiing, golfing, and fishing, he was in constant motion his whole life. He loved going to the Senior Connection in Hailey and could be seen walking and snowshoeing all around his beloved Sun Valley. One of his favorite activities was finding golf balls on the Sun Valley Golf Course. He also loved to sing, help at the LDS church, and pick up heart rocks.
He loved his children, grandchildren (11), and great grandchildren (19), who remember him as an inspirational role model, a lover of water guns and a joyful, bright, and playful spirit.
