Keith Floyd Barnett passed away at his home on January 21, 2017 due to complications from cancer. Keith was born on October 31, 1930 in Huntsville, Utah to Joseph Floyd and Josephine Robins Barnett. Keith married Zelda Jensen on September 15, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for almost 63 years–with his sweetheart passing away just a few months ago. Keith and Zelda's greatest legacy was their cherished family and the many blessings they enjoyed. Keith will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his kindness towards others, his tender care of his wife for almost ten years, his desire to help others anonymously, and his quick wit.
Keith served an LDS mission to the Netherlands. He also served his country in the army during the Korean War. He graduated from Weber College with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and was the first class to graduate with an MBA from the University of Utah. Upon graduation he became a CPA. Possessing a keen business mind, Keith co-founded the CPA firm Hansen, Barnett & Maxwell in Salt Lake City, which quickly became a premier local firm. Because of his love for his work and his desire to stay busy, after his retirement he continued to help clients with taxes until just last year. He has a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as Bishop in the Centerville Third Ward and faithfully fulfilled many other callings over the years in his ward and stake.
Some of his hobbies include golfing, reading Louis L'Amour books, restoring his GMC motor home, traveling, playing baseball and basketball in his younger years and, of course, chocolate.
Keith is survived by his five children: Brad (Elaine), Curtis (Barbara), Debbie (Byron), Greg (Traci), Kelly (Cheri). Also survived by five sisters, 21 grandchildren, and an ever-growing number of great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 11:00 a.m. at the Centerville Third Ward, 900 South 400 East. Friends may pay their respect at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, on Friday, January 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
